Şimdilik Bu Kadar
Well, I have bought this book actually for my wife because I thought it can be really interesting for her. She already read it and criticized couple of points. Naturally I thought this is my chance to read and understand her points and since than I read it and enjoyed:)
The name of the book, with a correct translation, “That’s all for now” – once you talk and talk and generally if there is nothing left to say,we use this expression and I believe Emine Uşaklıgil would like to use in that manner as well. It is a book about Emine Uşaklıgil and Serra Yılmaz and how they have intersection in their lives and how they have common backgrounds. I said it is about these two ladies but actually it is more focusing on Serra Yılmaz and Emine Uşaklıgil also explaining herself at the intersection points where they have similar memories.
Serra Yılmaz is a famous figure in cinema and she is very well known with her roles in Ferzan Özpetek movies. Beyond that I learned that she is using French and Italian as her native language and she is already putting Italian production into play in Florence. In the book you can find many details regarding to her family, how she grown up , marriage and critical areas in her life, cinema, theater, how she involved in tranlation as a translator and funny stories about these…
And for sure while Serra explaining her life, Emine Uşaklıgil also sharing her piece in a way that how her memories similar to Serra’s. For example, how they studied French and how they both faced with cancer…
I like the book since it is detailed and I learned lotf of unknown points about their lives and it was interesting to see background and how they faced with difficulties. The only critics from me is that the way of expressing the memories sometimes mixed each other. Once you read something about Serra, you jump to memories of Emine and you are unable to recognize it. This makes reading a bit difficult and you need to concentrate more. Apart from that I like the book!!

Aslında itiraf etmeliyim ki bu kitabı eşim için almıştım. Yani bana hitap etmediğini düşündüğüm için de hiç okumaya heveslenmemiştim:( Ama kitapla ilgili eleştirilerini dinledikten sonra merak edip kitabı okumaya karar verdim, iyi ki de okumuşum zira insan bazen gözünün önündeki perdeleri indirmeli ve güneş ışığını içeri almalı.
Kitap kısaca iki benzer hayat hikayesine ya da daha doğrusu hayatlarında kesişme noktası çok olan iki kişinin geçmişden günümüze geliş serüvenini anlatıyor. Emine Uşaklıgil ağzından daha çok Serra’nın hayat hikayesini dinliyoruz ancak Emine Uşaklıgil ile de ilgili bir çok bilgi ediniyoruz ve yaşadıklarını ilk elden okuma fırsatı elde ediyoruz.
Serra Yılmaz, sinema ve tiyatro oyuncusu, çevirmen… benim aklımdaki ilk filmi Şekepare, daha sonraları Ferzan Özpetek filmleriyle bilinirliliği en tepe noktasına çıkıyor. Sadece bununla sınırlı değil tabi, Papa ve devlet başkanlarının ziyaretlerinde simültane çeviri yapacak kadar İtalyanca ve Fransızca biliyor. Gördüğüm kadarıyla 80’lere kadar ve özellikle sinemaya geçene kadar Serra Yılmaz’ın çok kolay bir yaşantısı olmamış, ailesi, anne-babasının ayrılışı, evliliği ve tiyatroya başlaması, çeviri ile ilgilenmesi ve sonrasında sinema ve çok değer verdiği sevgilisini kaybetmesi, kanseri yenişi ve daha bir çok detayı kitapta bulabiliyorsunuz.
Emine Uşaklıgil ise gezeteci kimliği, Halit Ziya Uşaklıgil’in torunu olması, Cumhuriyet gazetesinin varisi olması ve hatta 90’l yıllarda Cumhuriyet’te yaşadıkları ile farklı bir konuma sahip.
Emine Uşaklıgil ile Serra Yılmaz’ın yaşamlarında bir çok kesişme noktası bulunuyor ve bunlar kitapta sık sık dile getirilmiş. Eleştirel olarak, bunun biraz zorlama olduğunu düşünüyorum ve hatta yer yer biraz bence tutmamış ama genel çerçeve itibariyle de kötü olduğunu söyleyemem. Bir de hikayelerdeki geçişlerde kimin hikayesi olduğu ara ara karışmış ve açıkçası 1-2 defa tekrar okumak zorunda kaldım.
Özellikle Serra Yılmaz gibi bir figürü, kişiliği anlamak için ve ne tür zorluklara şimdiki konumuna geldiği görmek için ideal bir eser. Bu taraftan özellikle Cumhuriyet gazetesi ile ilgili arka planı anlamamız için de Emine Uşaklıgil’in ağzından hikayeleri duymak etkileyiciydi. Severek okuduğumuz bir eser oldu efendim 🙂
