Another unread book is in my bookshelf almost for 7 years waiting to be read and finally done 🙂 I have bought lots of books in the past and nowadays trying to reduce my unreadshelf and it is really fun. This book is about memories of Tarık Akan who is a famous actor in Turkey and these memories specifically covering a period of his life which is painful for him. There was a coup in Turkey on 12th of September in 1980 and military forces took the control of government. Regardless of your political view (mostly left wing), most of the people put into prison and again regardless of your social status( writer, columnist, actor, lawyer, doctor…) most of the people faced with torture in the prisons.
The book is about the prison-memories of Akan who slandered by a widely known Turkish Newspaper called Tercüman about his political views. Akan was returning from Germany from a visit and at the airport he is arrested and stayed in different places for 2,5 months. He explained in the book that how the conditions in prisons were not humanistic and how guardians, police and all people treated and tortured people. He was not given permisson to go for a pee and he was under psychological pressure from officers due to his political views.
The book consists of mainly 2-3 divisions, at first he stayed in a main police station where he has lots of pain due to psychological pressure, unhumanistic conditions and torture. In the second part, he transferred another prison where the control was under military officers and it was better comparing to police one. He had chance to smoke, read and have good meals.
He also explained how the court ended and how he was involved at that period in movies etc. Regardless of your status, once people gain control (police, military…) they try to ignore other side and as well make pressure until you accept their view. Unfortunately beginning of 80s was not an ideal to havea democratic life in Turkey and most of the people suffered either being tortured or had major breakdowns in their lifes.
Nice to hear memories of Akan which was clear and I feel the sincere words from his heart. Suggested for everyone and hope not to have these stops in democracy again!

Kitaplığımızdan bir başka okunmamış ve yıllar önce alınmış kitap 🙂 Kitabı D&R‘dan 2014 yılında sipariş etmişim ve ara ara bazı bölümleri okuduğumu hatırlıyorum ancak tamamını baştan sona okumak bugüne kısmet oldu. Kitap adından da anlaşılacağı üzere Tarık Akan‘ın 12 Eylül döneminde yaşadığı anılar ve özellikle hapishanede geçen dönemleri. Tarık Akan, Almanya’ya bir geziye gidiyor ve Tercüman Gazetesi, onun hakkında asılsız bir haber yaparak Akan’ın daha havalimanında tutuklanmasını sağlayacak olayları tetikliyor. Kitabı aslında 2-3 bölüm olarak düşünebiliriz.
İlk bölümde Akan’ın tutuklanarak Gayrettepe’de bulunan 1.Şubeye getirilişi ve burada yaşadığı (çiş yaptırılmaması, yemek , sigara problemleri, dayak yemesi…) insanlık dışı muameleye tanık oluyoruz. İkinci bölüm ise 1. Şubeden Selimiye Kışlasına götürülmesi ve burada yaşadıkları, gördükleri olarak yazabiliriz. Her ne kadar askeri taraf koşullar anlamında daha iyi görünse de her iki tarafta da ağır bir psikolojik baskı, insanlık dışı fiziki koşullar, ağır hakaret ve aşağılanmalara maruz kalıyor.
Sonrasında ise mahkemenin nasıl sonuçlandığı ve ailesine nasıl kavuştuğu, filmlerde o sıralarda nasıl rol aldığı vs.hakkında paylaşımlarda bulunuyor. Arada da not olarak Yol filminin nasıl ne ne zorluklar altında çekildiğini detaylı bir şekilde anlatmış.
O yıllar maalesef hem ülke hem de demokrasi adına çok hatırlanmak istenmeyen yıllarmış ve bunu da Tarık Akan gibi toplumun önünde yeri olan bir aktörden dinlemek daha da acı verici. Dili çok sade ve çok içten, okurken kendinizi onun yerine koyabiliyorsunuz ve o yılları anlamak için kısa ve gayet başarılı bir eser.Tabi ki tavsiye ediyoruz 🙂
